Trash Incineration More Polluting than Coal
This report by the Energy Justice Network (EJN) explains how trash incineration creates more harmful pollution than burning coal.
Trash incineration continues to be the most harmful source of energy production. They are large polluters of dioxins, mercury, and lead which are all harmful to the human body and the environment. Incinerators also emit NOx, CO2, CO, and SO2, all emissions known to be extremely harmful.
The report compares the emissions of these pollutants from incineration to other sources of energy, including coal. The results show that incineration is the most polluting option.
