Plastic recycling could be more dangerous than you think

A report by IPEN showed that the most common plastic "solutions" still release toxins into the environment.

Recycling and incineration, which are often seen as solutions to plastic waste, are both processes that release toxic chemicals. In both processes, the toxins can escape the facilities that plastics are processed in and then expose humans and the environment to those biproducts. Then, the sludge produced is placed in landfills and often leaches into the soil. This report explains that our current plastic solutions are still not safe ways to manage plastic waste.
